The Journey

The Legacy Empowerment Center began its journey in January 2016 in Gastonia, NC.  Pastor Chip and Jessica Hall gathered several leaders and shared a vision of planting a new church whose significant aim would be to engage in inter-generational discipleship and social action. Out of these discussions came the common theme of concern for inner-city urban families and the tragedy of abject poverty. If the whole family could be affected, the community would become transformed.  The concept of a multi-service community center began to take shape. Family-oriented and faith-based, the center would be driven by partnership and based on the community it serves.  The first program was launched in January 2019. The center launched an after-school program targeting at-risk, behaviorally challenged elementary school children. As with many other school-related programs, the 2020 pandemic caused a major shift which led to divine opportunity. The new and improved Legacy Empowerment Center is now positioned to offer expanded and extensive programming to the Charlotte community.
